3. REva mother board

REva User Guide: Mother Board

3.3.5 Daughter board connecting area

This area allows the connection of a daughter board featuring a target microcontroller for evaluation.
The REva mother board cannot be used without a daughter board.

This area may also be used to connect the REva to another board with the appropriate connectors
soldered to the bottom.

3.3.6 Features

1 standard SO-DIMM connector to receive the daughter board. The procedure of insertion/extraction
is described in the chapter “Daughter Boards (General Considerations)” of this document.

1 72-position header for observation and measuring of useful signals.

2 40-position headers to which the other 72 positions of the SO-DIMM are connected as well as
some VDD and GND positions. This is useful for obtaining multiple power supply signals when
connecting the REva to another board.

3.3.7 Limitations

The SO-DIMM connector is guaranteed for 20 insertion-extraction cycles.

3.4 ISP/ISD connection area

This area allows the connection of the development tool for in-circuit debugging/programming of the
target device on the daughter board, when the REva is used in “broken apart” mode.

3.4.1 Description

The male HE10 type connectors in this area may vary from one board to another depending on the in-
circuit programming and debugging protocol used by the supported target devices. Connectors include:

a 20-pin connector for devices that use JTAG protocol (STR7 devices for example) and

a 14-pin connector, or

a 10-pin connector (for ST7 devices, for example)
