4.4 Connecting cables

4.4.1 Connecting LC/PC fiber

When the Gazelle S1000i-LI is not used, you should put a dustproof cover on the
optical interface to prevent dust and dirt from entering it to ensure that the Gazelle
S1000i-LI works normally.

There is invisible laser in the Gazelle S1000i-LI, which may cause eye injury.
Therefore, you should not look directly at the optical interface, header of the optical
connector, or breakage of the fiber.

Connect the LC/PC fiber as below:

Step 1

Insert the SFP optical module into the optical interface on the Gazelle S1000i-LI.

Step 2

Remove the dustproof covers of the optical module and fiber, and keep it for later use.

Step 3

Align the connector with the optical interface to insert the fiber into the optical interface
gently.

Step 4

To remove the fiber, push the fiber connector inwards slightly, and pull out the fiber.

4.4.2 Connecting Ethernet cable

Connect the Ethernet cable as below:

Step 1

Make the Ethernet cable according to specifications.

Step 2

Align the Ethernet cable header with the Ethernet interface of the Gazelle S1000i-LI and
insert the Ethernet cable into the Ethernet interface gently, as shown in Figure 4-20.
