Troubleshooting
We do not expect you to have any problems with your phone or answering system, but if you
do, these suggestions might help.
Problem

Low volume or unusual sounds.
Someone has picked up another phone on the same line.
Hang up the other phone.
Severe noise interference.
Press
SELECT/CH
to change the channel.
Keep the handset away from computers, remote control
toys, wireless microphones, alarm systems, intercoms,
room monitors, fluorescent lights, and electrical appli-
ances.
Move the handset to another location or turn off the
source of interference.
The answering system does
not answer calls.
Make sure the answering system is turned on.
Make sure the AC adapter is properly connected.
Check all phone line connections.
The answering system does
not record callers’ messages.
REC TIME
is set to

(announcement only). Set it to

Delete messages if memory is full.
The phone does not operate at
a useful distance from the base
because the signal becomes
weak or noisy (handset’s range
has decreased).
Lift the base’s antenna to a vertical position.
Return the handset to the cradle, and recharge the bat-
tery pack. Replace the battery pack if necessary (see
“Connecting, Charging, and Replacing the Battery Pack”
on Page 12).
The phone does not work or
works poorly.
Be sure the base’s phone line cord and AC adapter are
correctly and securely connected, and the battery pack is
charged.
