2. To remove the battery com-
partment cover, press the
raised dots on the cover and
slide it down.
3. Install the batteries, according
to the polarity symbols (+ and
–) inside.
4. Replace the cover, then rein-
sert the belt clip (if desired).
The radio’s range decreases as bat-
tery power decreases. To ensure
maximum range, keep fresh batter-
ies in the radio.
When the batteries weaken, a tone
sounds for about 5 seconds, the ra-
dio will not transmit or receive, and
an error tone sounds whenever you
press
PTT
,
MON
, or
CALL
. Replace
the batteries.
Warning: Dispose of old batteries
promptly and properly. Do not burn
or bury them.
Caution: If you do not plan to use
the radio for a week, remove the
batteries. Batteries can leak chemi-
cals that can destroy electronic
parts.
