6. Lift the crank and rotate it clockwise or counterclockwise.
Note: Radio operation time depends on the number of turns
and the time per turn. For example, about 2 turns per second
for 2 minutes will provide over 30 minutes of radio operation
at a medium volume level. You can recharge the battery pack
even while the radio plays.
7. Return the crank to the folded position.
If turning the crank at about 2 turns per second for about 1 minute
does not power the radio for at least 15 minutes, replace the bat-
tery pack with a DC 2.4V, 300mAH rechargeable Ni-Cd battery
pack, available at your local RadioShack store.
Using Batteries
Your radio can use two AA batteries (not supplied) for power. For
the best performance and longest life, we recommend
RadioShack alkaline batteries.
Caution:
• Use only fresh batteries of the required size and recom-
mended type.
• Do not mix old and new batteries or different types of batter-
ies (standard, alkaline, or rechargeable).
1. Remove the battery compartment cover.
2. Place the batteries in the compartment as indicated by the
polarity symbols (+ and –) marked inside.
