TRANSPORTATION IN MOTOR VEHICLES
The Cheetah has met ISO-7176-19 and ISO-10542 crash test standards for transporting
people in motor vehicles when placed in a forward facing position. However, we highly rec-
ommend moving the wheelchair user to an approved vehicle seat whenever possible. An
approved vehicle seat is the safest place to transport people in vehicles.
The wheelchair must be placed in a forward facing position, when used as a seat in a motor
vehicle. An approved 4-point strap-type tie-down system must be used to secure the chair
to the vehicle.
An approved 3-point passenger restraint must be used in conjunction with the 4-point
wheelchair tie-down. The passenger restraint must not be held away from the user's body
by wheelchair components such as armrests, clothing guards, wheels, lateral supports or
other devices.
The seat must be placed in a horizontal position and the back must be 90° or perpendicular
to the seat.
All accessories must be removed from the wheelchair and secured separately in the vehicle.
Accessories that cannot be removed must be secured to the wheelchair but positioned away
from the user with energy absorbing padding placed between accessories and the user.
Alterations or substitutions should not be made to the wheelchair without consulting a
dealer.
The wheelchair must be inspected by the dealer before reuse following involvement in any
type of vehicle impact.
