This section describes how to remove and replace the solid state drive backplane in the DXi6900-S Node
and contains the following sections:

Obtaining a Replacement Solid State Drive Backplane

Before beginning the replacement procedure, make sure that you have the required replacement kit. The
appropriate replacement drive backplane will be provided by Quantum Customer Support (see

).

You will need the following items to perform this procedure:

l

Replacement solid state drive backplane kit provided by Quantum Customer Support.

l

Masking tape and felt tip marker (for temporarily labeling drives)

l

ESD grounding wrist strap (included in the replacement kit)

Replacing the Solid State Drive Backplane

This section describes how to remove and replace the solid state drive backplane in the DXi6900-S Node.
The drive backplane connects the SAS solid state drives in the Node to the PERC H730 integrated storage
controller.

Caution:

Use appropriate ESD precautions, including the use of a grounding strap, when performing

this procedure.
