13. Details regarding cleaning of surfaces which are in contact with food can be
found in the “CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE” section.
14. Take care not to burn yourself with hot steam.
15. Do not touch the hot parts of the appliance (such as the steam pipe and the
metal filter). Use the handles or knobs.
16. Do not operate the coffee machine without water.
17. Do not remove the metal filter holder when the appliance is preparing coffee
or when steam and hot water escape from it, and make sure you release the
pressure from the water tank before removing the metal funnel.

4. BEFORE FIRST USE
■ Unpack the appliance and remove all packaging materials.
■ Check that the appliance has no visible damage and no parts are missing.
■ Wipe the main unit and clean the accessories following the instructions in the
CLEANING AND CARE section.
■ Before first use or after storing the machine for a long period of time, follow
the sections MAKING ESPRESSO (without ground coffee in the filter) and
FROTHING MILK FOR CAPPUCCINO (with water in the jug) to dispense hot
water and produce 2 minutes of steam. Perform this procedure 2 to 3 times to
flush thoroughly the espresso system and the steam system.
