Introduction
1.1 Description
The 7BI1 Bus Interface card is part of the DLM-6102 and DLM-6103 Distribution Line Modem
Expansion Kits for the QUICS 3150 Remote Terminal Units.
The QUICS 3150 Remote Terminal Unit contains a 6CP2 Central Processing card. When the
remote is modified with a DLM Distribution Line Modem Expansion Kit, the 6CP2 card is
replaced with a new 6CPP2 Central Processing Panel. The 6CPP2 panel does not mount into
the card frame where the 6CP2 was originally installed. The 7BI1 Bus Interface card is
plugged into the card slot normally occupied by the 6CP2 Central Processing card. The 7BI1
card is the interface between the I/0 bus of the remote and the newly installed 6CPP2 Central
Processing Panel.
The 7BI1 card allows the 6CPP2 Central Processing Panel to become the processing panel.
Signals that appear on the J4 connector of the 6CPP2 are brought to and from the
motherboard of the 3150 Remote via the 7BI1. These signals are output onto the
motherboard in the same fashion as with the 6CP2. Therefore, the cards in the 3150 Remote
see the 7BI1 as being transparent. That is, they are controlled by the 6CPP2 instead of the
6CP2.
Eight (8) option platforms are provided so the 7BI1 can address any eight (8) of the sixteen
(16) addressable slots of a 3150 Remote card frame. Only eight (8) of the slots can be
addressed since there are only eight (8) address signals present on the J4 connector of the
6CPP2.
Three (3) relays are also provided to select two (2) bus relays and the common transmit relay
on a 7DPA1 Distribution Power Amplifier.
1.2 7BI1 Specifications
Input Power: +12 Volts do @ 50 mA
External Connections:
P1 - Signals to/from the 3150 Remote motherboard.
J1 - Drives the bus select relays on the 7DPA1.
J2 - Drives optical isolators on Rev B Transceiver board which in turn drives
bus select relays on 7DPA1. This connector is normally not used.
J3 - Signals to/from J4 connector of 6CPP2.
NOTE
See Table 1-1 for specific signal connections
