Synchronous Gate Mode Timing Diagram
User Controlled
In User Controlled Mode, the CCD’s Electronic Shutter and Image Intensifier Gate are controlled
explicitly through the External Trigger Port and Gate Input respectively. This mode allows the user
to tailor the activity of the shutter gate to their application. Figure 12 is a timing diagram of the
camera’s operation in user controlled mode where the gate is opened and closed arbitrarily to
capture multiple events in a single image. Note: the gate control is active low.
Note that both the CCD’s Electronic Shutter and the Image Intensifier Gate must be opened
simultaneously in order for events to be captured.

Triggering Integration
The Intensified Retiga Fast 1394 integration can be triggered either by the camera’s electronics, or
externally by the user through the External Trigger Port and Gate Input. When operating in an external
trigger mode, the user must provide appropriate electrical signals to the trigger port and gate inputs.
