5. TROUBLESHOOTING
PROBLEME POSSIBLE CAUSES
SOLUTIONS
Engine won’t start
1. No current.
2. Pump phase has been lost.
3. Voltage overload.
4. Capacitor damaged.
5. Connection error.
6. Damaged motor.
1. Check current.
2. Replace fuse.
3. Check voltage.
4. Replace capacitor.
5. Check connection.
6. Repair motor.
Flow rate
insuffi cient
1. Operating pressure too high.
2. Clogged inlet.
3. Impeller wear.
4. Possible air gap in pump casing.
Use within the rated pressure range. 2.
2. Clean water inlet.
3. Replace impeller.
4. Purge suction and pipe body.
The electric pump
stops
suddenly.
1. Circuit breaker disconnected or fuse blown.
2. Clogged impeller.
3. Stator winding is burnt out.
1. Check circuit breaker and fuse.
2. Check and clean impeller.
3. Rewind and check.
Stator winding
1. The electric pump runs too long with an
incorrect phase.
2. Winding rotation short-circuit or short-circuit
between phases due to broken mechanical seal.
3. Clogged impeller.
4. Electrical pump starts and stops frequently.
5. Electric pump runs on overload.
1. Check mains phases.
2. Check winding and replace mechanical seal.
3. Check and clean impeller.
4. Check working range of pump.
5. Check mains voltage.
The pump works
but does not draw
water
1. Suction is blocked.
2. Foot valve or non-return valve is closed.
3. Constriction in the suction pipe.
4. Air in the pump or in the suction line.
1. Check and clean the pump suction.
2. Check foot and check valves.
3. Check suction pipe section.
4. Prime pump and suction pipe.
When the power is
cut off, the pump
runs backwards
1. Suction line constriction.
2. Failure of foot valve or non-return valve.
3. Expired foot valve.
4. Bubble in suction line.
1. Check the suction pipe.
2. Check and repair or replace valves.
3. Check valve.
4. Bleed suction line.
The pump makes
noise and vibrates
1. Narrowing in the suction pipe.
2. Small or blocked suction line.
3. Air in the pump or in the suction pipe.
4. The ratio between device and pump head is
too low.
5. Wear of mechanical parts.
1. Check the suction pipe.
2. Improve or repair the suction pipe.
3. Fill with liquid and remove air.
4. Upgrade the system or select another duty point
according to the pump rating.
5. Repair the pump.
