installation, otherwise reserved for additional

AC equipment. This breaker will trip without

seawater supply to the air conditioning unit.

If this breaker trips, reset and check for

water-flow out of the air conditioning thru-

hull. Refer to the air conditioner owner’s

manual for additional information.

Outlets

Supply electrical current to the cabin ground

fault interrupter (GFI) electrical outlets. All

AC electrical outlets have ground fault inter-

rupters to protect against electric shock.

Periodically test these outlets to ensure

proper operation by pressing the test/reset

buttons in the center of faceplate. GFI out-

lets do not protect against short circuits and

overloads. The outlet breakers on the AC

panel do this.

Battery Charger

Supplies electrical current directly to the battery
charger located in the machinery space.

Water Heater

This breaker supplies electrical current

directly to the water heater circuit. A thermo-

stat in the water heater control panel auto-

matically controls the water temperature.

Before operation, you must have water in

the water heater (see the water heater man-

ual for more information).

Stove

Supplies electrical current directly to the gal-

ley stove. See the stove manual for more

information.

Spare

For future use.

4.6 Battery Charger Operation

The battery charger charges and maintains

the 12-volt batteries simultaneously when

activated. It is automatic and is equipped

with an ammeter to monitor charging. See

the battery charger manual for more infor-

mation.

At dockside, and when connected to shore

power, the battery charger maintains the

charge on the house and engine batteries.

When operating on the optional generator,

the on-board battery charger must be on to

maintain charge on the house battery. The

generator charging system does not gener-

ate enough current to keep up with the elec-

trical demand on the house battery.

An internal fuse in the battery charger and

three circuit breakers, one for each battery-

bank output wire, protects the wires that

supply DC charging current to the batteries.

The breakers protect the DC charging circuit

from the batteries to the charger. They are

located on the 24-Hour Essential Breaker

panel located in the battery switch enclo-

sure. Push to reset the breakers. The inter-

nal fuses in the charger protect the DC

charging circuit from the charger to the bat-

teries.

4.7 Shore Power Connection

Connecting Procedure for Shore
Power

Turn the main AC breaker to the “OFF” posi-

tion. If the dockside outlet includes a discon-

nect switch, turn it to the “OFF” position also.

To avoid strain on the cable, make sure it

has more slack than the mooring lines.

WARNING

GFI outlets do not provide 100% pro-

tection from electric shock. Even

though ground fault interrupters pro-

vide protection by reducing exposure

time from line to ground shock haz-

ards, it is possible to receive an elec-

tric shock from defective appliances

or power tools and misused electrical

equipment.
