7. Drop-down lists at the left and right sides of control panel image are used for designation of
required functions to buttons and LED indicators.
Click required button of indicator of control panel by mouse pointer to open the list of available functions
relevant to that control.
You can also enter the number of required function of OEM Button or OEM LED manually.
8. FRO DRO field is used for designation of function to FRO potentiometer.
Any other function can assigned to it although it is called FRO and initially designed for convenient
adjustment of NC program execution (Feed rate override). This potentiometer can control any data
window (OEM DRO) in MACH3. In FRO DRO field select data field for binding to potentiometer as well
as select required value range. By default potentiometer is set to control Feed rate override function (DRO
821 code) and value range of 0 to 255.
9. Press “Save settings”. Control panel is ready for operation.
10. Encoder at the bottom of control panel is used for movement of selected axis.
Several modes of encoder operation are available. If you use standard screen-set of MACH3, press “Tab”
on keyboard to open additional window of movement control at the right side (fig.8). Encoder operation
mode selector switch is located at the upper part of control panel.
• In “Velocity only” mode axis is moved at the velocity proportional to encoder rotation speed.
• In “Single Step” mode rotation of encoder to one step causes movement if selected axis to the value
specified in “Step” field (a little below in the same window). Amount of step can be changed by “Cycle
jog Step” button. This mode is convenient in precise positioning.
• “Step/Velocity” mode represents combination of these two modes. While rotating at low speed encoder
operates in “Step” mode; when rotation speed is increased, operation control changes to “Velocity” mode.
Mode switchover limit is set in window located under "Step/Velocity” button and it is specified in
percentage of maximum rotation speed of encoder.
