IMPORTANT CONCEPTS
AND DEFINITIONS
When reading this manual we refer to devices that send video into the neo:8 Professional Matrix as source devices or
sources, examples of source devices include Blu-Ray players, Set Top Boxes, Game Consoles and Media Centres.
Devices that receive video from the matrix are called sink devices or sinks. Examples of these are Amplifiers (AVRs)
TVs and projectors.
SETUP
neo modular is designed to be on and connected to an active internet connection at all times. It will operate correctly
when not connected to a network (or the internet) but certain functions will not be available.
Connect a standard Ethernet cable (to only one of the two ethernet ports) from your router or network switch,
cross over cables are not supported.
Inside the accesorry box is the SD card that contains all the necessary information for your system, ensure this is
fitted in the card slot on the front panel and remains fitted at all times.
Connect your source devices into the input ports using a High Speed HDMI cable or better (not supplied). It is
recommended for future ease of use to connect devices from Input 1 to Input 8, although you can connect them in
any order you wish. Depending on your system configuration, not all ports may be fitted or may support additional
features not covered in this guide. If you are unsure about your configuration of your system please contact your
distributor for more information.
Sink devices are connected via category cable (see cabling advise at the start of this guide) from the Output port
to the supplied receivers.
Note: If you have a mixed system of class a and class b outputs, ensure you use the
correct receiver. For example, class a outputs connect to neo pro receivers and class b to neo lite receivers.
Complete the connection from the receiver to the Sink device (i.e. your TV) via a HDMI cable.
Once all connections have been made, turn the matrix on by connecting the power supply to the mains.
Note: There is no on/off switch on the matrix, it is designed to always be on.
CONNECTING RACK EARS
The supplied racking kit comes in two parts, the painted black ears are designed to be fitted to the front of the
unit only, two M4 screws (supplied) are used to secure each. You can mount the system with the front ears only,
however on taller racking systems the weight of the system may cause the item to sag in the rack. You can fit the
supplied rear rack supports, using four M4 screws each, to provide further support.
POWER SUPPLY
Use the supplied mains power cables and connect both to the chassis. Do not use any other power cables with this
product and always use both, ideally connected to different ring mains to provide redundancy.
