Product Description
The MPS1000 is a WAN-LAN Data Communication Server that attaches to your local-area
network to provide wide-area connectivity. A single MPS communication server can support a
number of WAN protocols, each of which can be accessed simultaneously by multiple clients.
The MPS1000 is a robust WAN-over-IP communications server that is ideal for bringing WAN
gateway connectivity to your local area network. It provides two 10/100 Mb Ethernet ports and
four, eight, or 16 high-speed WAN serial ports, making it ideal as an intelligent WAN/LAN
bridge, WAN/LAN gateway device, or a remote WAN connectivity server. Using SNMP
management, any computer and/or workstation equipped with TCP/IP on the LAN can access
information from the MPS communications server.
The MPS1000 is designed to preserve the user's software investment; all of Performance
Technologies’ WAN Communications products enable applications developed on one to be
moved to any of the other WAN products. Its modular design supports virtually any
synchronous serial communications protocol.
Extensive Software Support
The MPS1000 is enabled with the Linux-based NexusWare® Core development environment.
With the wide acceptance and extensive number of publicly available applications and
protocols, available for Linux, system developers can bring sophisticated systems to market in
a much shorter time.
Equipped with a well-defined API, the integrated protocol suite from Performance Technologies
reduces time to market by eliminating unnecessary development efforts at the hardware/
protocol level. The depth and flexibility of the protocols offered by Performance Technologies
for our WAN hardware products enable development engineers to proceed directly to
integration and application development.
Performance Technologies' suite of WAN communications protocols provides complete WAN
connectivity solutions for Frame Relay, HDLC, LAPD, X.25 and Radar Receiver/SBSI
protocols. Operating system support for the MPS1000 includes Solaris™/UNIX®, Windows
XP®, and Linux®.
