If the RangeLAN2 7100 adapter did not install properly, the card
most likely has a resource conflict and is trying to use an Interrupt
Level (IRQ) or I/O Base Address which is either already in use or
not available for use by the card.
Open the Windows NT Diagnostics utility in the Administrative
Tools section of the Start Menu to view the resources currently in
use by the computer. After you have confirmed what resources
are available, click the Adapters tab of the Network Icon and
view the properties for the RangeLAN2 7100 ISA Adapter to
return to the Card Setup screen. Change the IRQ Level or I/O
Base Address to a value that Windows NT reports is not currently
in use. See Chapter 8 for more troubleshooting suggestions.
Note:
If you change the I/O Base Address value in the
“Proxim RangeLAN2 7100 Adapter Properties”
screen, you must also change the dip switch settings on
the back of the card. See Appendix A for information
on how to set the dip switch to the appropriate
I/O Base Address value.
Once the RangeLAN2 7100 adapter has been successfully in-
stalled, run SETUP.EXE from the Windows NT driver diskette to
install the RangeLAN2 Utilities.
The utilities will be added to a new folder under Start Menu /
Programs called RangeLAN2 Utilities. This folder will contain
the RangeLAN2 Site Survey & Configuration Tool and the
RangeLAN2 Status Monitor. The RangeLAN2 Status Monitor
will also be added to the StartUp folder and will be launched each
time the operating system starts.
See Appendix B for more information on the RangeLAN2
Utilities.
