Air shocks
: Release all the air from the shock to compress it all the
way and check for any points of contact between the frame and the
shock. If there are any levers on the shock, please also check them
in every position for points of contact. If there is no contact between
shock and frame, it can be used without any doubt.
Coil shocks:
To check the compatibility of shocks using a steel
spring (coil), remove the spring from the shock, but leave the disk
that supports the spring in the shock. Now you can compress the
shock as well and check for any points of contact moving the disk
up and down the piston rod. Also check for any contact points ad-
justment levers on the shock could cause.
Compatible shocks
There are no restrictions on shocks that are approved to be used
with the Spindrift model. Air and Coil shocks are equally approved
to be used. Nevertheless, you should still perform a test of compat-
ibility because changes of the shock by the manufacturer are pos-
sible anytime.
Shock maintenance
Permanent excellent performance of the shock can only be guaran-
teed if it is serviced periodically. To ensure that you should keep a
few things in mind:
Clean the running surface of the shock after every ride, especially
in extremely dusty or muddy conditions. Lubricate the seal at the
piston rod according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Depending on the conditions but not less than every year, Propain
recommends doing a shock service at the manufacturer.
Not less than twice per year you should do an air can service. This
can be done at either a bike dealer in your region or at the manu-
facturer of the shock.
If you are uncertain in any of the points mentioned above, please
do not hesitate contacting Propain or your local bike dealer.
Shock setup
Your shock needs to be set up correctly to ensure your bike per-
forms well. Wrongly set up shocks can cause damages to the frame
or its spare parts. Furthermore, it can cause crashes and in the
worst case severe injuries.
Your shock is set up correctly if it compresses approximately 30%
when you sit on the bike (SAG).
Ask a friend for help to find the right air pressure or steel spring. He
can either measure the remaining visible length of the piston rod or
