Do’s and don’ts
Do-
C l ean and defrost your app l iance regu l ar l y (See “Defrosting”)
Do- Leave l ettuce, cabbage, pars l ey and cau l if l ower on the stem.
Do- Wrap raw meat and pou l try l oose l y in po l ythene or a l uminium foi l . This prevents
drying.
Do-
Wrap fish and offa l in po l ythene bags.
Do-
Check contents of the compartments every so often.
Do-
Store commercia ll y prepared food in accordance with the instructions given on the
packets.
Do- A l ways choose high qua l ity fresh food and be sure it is thorough l y c l ean before
freezing it.

Wrap a ll food in a l uminium foi l or food qua l ity po l ythene bags and make sure any
air is exc l uded.
Don’t-
Cover the she l ves with any protective materia l s which may obstruct air
circu l ation.
Don’t- Store poisonous or any dangerous substances in your freezer. It has been designed
for the freezing of edib l e foodstuffs on l y.
Don’t-
Consume food which has been frozen for an excessive l ength of time.
Don’t-
Leave the door open for l ong periods, as this wi ll make the app l iance more cost l y
to run and cause excessive ice formation.
Don’t- Use sharp edged objects such as knives or forks to remove the ice.
Don’t-

se hairdryers, or e l ectrica l app l iances for defrosting on l y use item
recommended by the manufacturer.
Don’t- Put hot food into the app l iance. Let it coo l down first.
Don’t- Put l iquid-fi ll ed bott l es or sea l ed cans containing carbonated l iquids into the
freezer as they may burst.
Don’t-
Give chi l dren ice-cream and water ices direct from the freezer The l ow
temperature may cause ‘freezer burns’ on the l ips.
Don’t- Try to keep frozen food which has thawed; it shou l d be eaten within 24 hours or
cooked and re-frozen.
