Operation
1. Connect the main cable provided to the main jack (4) first, then connect it to a main socket (230 V~/50
Hz). While starting, the display shows
C208
and the LEDs remain dark. Then the unit will be ready for
operation and can be controlled via a DMX controller or will automatically operate according to the show
programme adjusted. To switch off the unit, disconnect the main plug.
Caution: do not connect the unit to the main voltage via a dimmer!
2. For a more convenient operation, it is recommended to connect the unit to a socket which can be
switched on and off via a light switch.
3. If several LDID180 are used, it is possible to connect the jack POWER LINK OUTPUT (3) of the first unit via a
main cable with an plug and an in line jack to the main jack (4) of the second unit. The second unit can again
be connected to the third unit etc. until all units will be connected in a chain. A maximum of 40 units can be
interconnected in this way. The 41st unit must then be provided with a main connection of its own.
Operation via a light control unit
For operation via a light controller with DMX512 protocol, the unti is equipped with 27 DMX channels.
For connection, the LDID180 is equipped with 3-pole XLR connections (1 = ground, 2 = DMX-, 3 = DMX+).
According to the jack available on the unit to be connected, either use the 3-pole connection.
For connection, special cables for high data flow should be used. The use of standard microphone cables
can only be recommended for a total cable length of up to 100 m. The best transmission results are obtained
with screened microphone cables of 2 x 0.25mm
2
or special data transmission cables. For cable lengths
exceeding 150 m it is recommended to insert a DMX level matching amplifier.
1. Connect the DMX input (8) to the DMX output of the light controller.
2. Connect the DMX output (7) to the DMX input of the following DMX-controlled unit. Connect its output
to the input of the following unit, etc. until all DMX-controlled units have been connected. The DMX
output jacks are provided with a latching. To remove the plug, press the PUSH lever.
3. Terminate the DMX output of the last DMX-controlled unit in the chain with a 120Ω resistor (> 0.3 W):
Solder the resistor to the pins 2 and 3 of an XLR plug and connect the plug to the DMX output or use a
corresponding terminating plug.
