These alarm functions are based on the photocell principle. This means the smoke detector checks
for dust particles in the air as a result of a fire. It does not detect heat, gas or fire. This smoke
alarm sounds an early signal if properly assembled and maintained. This gives you extra time to
evacuate your home and phone the fire service. This alarm is built to detect smoke - it cannot fight
a fire.
READ AND KEEP THIS MANUAL!
IT COULD SAVE YOUR LIFE
IMPORTANT
INFO
• Read this manual carefully.
• Keep the smoke detector out of the reach of children.
• Only install this detector in the correct place, if possible in the centre of the ceiling.
• Test the detector weekly or after a period of extended absence
• Clean the detector (once a month) with a vacuum cleaner.
• Do not use any cleaning agents or other chemical products when cleaning it.
• Temporarily remove the detector during renovation or rebuilding work. Always clean the detector
with a vacuum cleaner when replacing it.
• “Better too much than too little”. It is best to install a number of detectors to increase your safety.
• Never remove the batteries from the smoke alarm unless they need replacing.
• Never paint your smoke alarm
• With frequent use smoke detectors have often helped to prevent casualties. They can give an
early warning and save lives. In some cases smoke alarms have not worked because of incorrect
use such as:
• When the battery is flat or not replaced in good time.
• If the detector has not detected smoke because of incorrect installation.
• If the alarm was not heard or not heard early enough because there were too few detectors in
the home or because of excessive use of drugs or alcohol.
• in some cases where a detector does not work: smoking in bed where there is no detector, ex-
plosions, gas or CO leaks, electrical faults, acids, incorrect storage of explosive substances.
• A smoke detector does not last forever. We advise you to replace each smoke detector every 10
years.
