OBSERVE PRECAUTIONS WITH REGARDS TO LASER.
This tool is
equipped with a laser to indicate where the cut line will be. Be sure to read the
precautions for the laser device in this manual, below.
PREVENT ELECTRIC SHOCKS.
When cutting wherever “live” electrical
wires may be encountered, hold the tool only by the plastic handle to prevent
electric shock. DO NOT TOUCH ANY METAL PARTS OF THE TOOL. If you
contact a live wire, the exposed metal of the saw becomes live as well, and can
shock the operator.
DO NOT START THE SAW WITH THE BLADE IN CONTACT WITH ANY
SURFACE.
The saw may kickback suddenly and could cause injury.
LET THE SAW BLADE COME TO A STOP
before putting the tool down.
The blade guard’s action may be impeded for some reason and could cause
the saw to jerk violently if it contacts anything with the blade.
IF ABNORMAL NOISE OR VIBRATION OCCURS
, turn off the saw immedi-
ately and have the problem corrected before using the tool again.
DANGER:
Keep hands away from cutting area and blades. NEVER place your
hand behind the saw blade since kickback could cause the saw to jump back-
wards over your hand. Keep your body positioned to either side of the saw
blade.
KICKBACK
CHECK LOWER GUARD FOR PROPER CLOSING
before each use. If saw
is accidentally dropped or knocked, the lower guard may be bent. Raise the
lower guard with the lower guard lift lever to make sure it moves freely and
does not touch the blade or any other part at all angle and depths of cut. Do
not operate the saw if lower guard does not move freely and close instantly.
Never clamp or tie the lower guard into the open position.
BE AWARE OF THE CORD.
When operating the saw, keep the cord away
from the cutting area and position it so that it will not be caught on the work
piece during the cutting operation.
KEEP YOUR FREE HAND
on the motor housing or the forward auxiliary
handle, not near the blade. Do not reach underneath the work, nor attempt to
remove cut material when blade is moving.
SUPPORT THE WORK PROPERLY BEFORE STARTING
and hold the saw
firmly during the cut to prevent loss of control, which could cause personal
injury. NEVER hold pieces for cutting in your hand or across your leg.
MAKING BLIND ”POCKET CUTS”
into existing walls or other hidden areas
is dangerous. The blade may contact ”live wires” or objects that can cause
kickback.
WHEN CUTTING IS INTERRUPTED
, or blade is binding, release the trigger
immediately and hold the saw firmly in the material until the blade comes to a
complete stop. Never attempt to remove the saw from the work or pull the saw
backward while the blade is in motion or kickback may occur.
USE A RIP FENCE
or straight edge guide when ripping.
AVOID CUTTING NAILS.
Inspect for and remove all nails from lumber before
cutting.
DO NOT RUN THE SAW WHILE CARRYING
it at your side.
MAKE CERTAIN THE DEPTH AND BEVEL ADJUSTMENTS ARE TIGHT
and
secure before making cut.
DO NOT USE DAMAGED OR DULL BLADES.
Unsharpened or improperly
set blades produce a too-narrow kerf, causing excessive friction, blade binding,
and kickback.
ALWAYS USE BLADES WITH CORRECT-SIZED BORE.
Never use defective
or incorrect blade washers or bolts.
When the blade is pinched or bound tightly by the kerf closing down, the blade
stalls and the motor reaction drives the unit rapidly back toward the operator.
If the blade becomes twisted or mis-aligned in the cut, the teeth at back edge
of the blade can dig into the top surface of the wood
causing the blade to climb
out of the kerf and jump back towards the operator.
Using dull blades or improperly supported work will increase the tendency for
kickback.
