6.5 Adjusting the cutting gear

(Fig. 8)

The anvil blade (B) should be adjusted to have a distance

of 0 to 0,50 mm from the cutting blade (A) (fig. 8). This

distance should be kept to guarantee effective operation

of the mac.

Note:

Soft materials or wet twigs can get torn instead of

cut properly due to wrong adjustment. Also a blunt an-

vil blade from frequent use produces the same problem.

On the right hand side of the shredder you will find the

blade adjustment knob (6). To adjust the distance turn the

screw to the right.

1. For lighter material, you can cut through the material

completely turn the knob clockwise half a turn.

2. If you are shredding heavy materials (such as harder

or large materials) they may need to be put through

the shredder twice, to crush the material before cutting

it completely. To loosen the adjusting screw, turn the

knob (6) anti-clockwise half a turn.

3. After you have completed the adjustment, check if

the blade cuts efficiently. To avoid and damage to the

shredder make sure that the cutting blade does not

come into contact with the anvil blade.

NOTE

1.  Do not allow garden waste to accumulate before

shredding as it will begin to compost, become too

damp and clog the cutting assembly. Dry material will

help most material to clear the ejection chute. Save

some dry sticks until last to help clean the blade area.

2. Frequently monitor the build up/collection of shredded

material.

3. Do not allow shredded material to build up and fill the

inside of the shredders discharge chute.

4. When the collection box is full, press the On/Off switch

to turn the garden shredder Off before emptying.

WARNING!

Do not put your hands up inside the shredder’s discharge

chute to clear away shredded material while the shredder

is switched on or connected to the mains supply.

NOTE

In normal use, do not switch off the garden shredder un

-

til all of the shredded material has cleared the cutter as-

sembly. If the garden shredder is switched off too quickly,

remaining pieces of material may clog the blade assembly

and stall the motor when the shredder is switched back on.

7. Troubleshooting

The motor does not run

•  The overload protection has responded.

 - Allow the machine to cool down for at least 1-2 min-

utes before re-starting. Push the overload switch (2).

 - Set the reversing switch to position REVERSE (4).

The cutting blade rotates in the reverse direction and

release the material so that you can remove it. Press

the green START (3) button to turn on.

•  Power failure

 - Check the power supply cord, the plug and your

house connection fuse and RCD.

•  Safety switch on the collection box not locked in position.

 - Ensure collection box is in position and locked.

The material to be chopped is not pulled in

•  The chopping knife is running backwards.

 - Change the direction of rotation..

•  The material is jammed in the feeding tunnel

 - Set the reversing switch to position (2). Pull the ma-

terial from the feeding funnel.

 - Re-feed thick branches such that the chopping knife

does not immediately grasp the pre-cut notches again.

The material is clogging up in the feeding funnel

 - Pull out the branches from the feeding funnel. Use

the pusher to push or loosen branches inside.

Caution! Change the direction of rotation to the

desired position after the shredder has come to

a complete standstill.

8. Care and maintenance

WARNING!

Before commencing cleaning and maintenance proce-

dures, make sure the garden shredder is switched off and

disconnected from the mains supply. Always wear sturdy

leather gloves when cleaning the cutter blades.
1. To ensure the best performance from the garden shred-

der, it must be kept clean.

2. Always clean the garden shredder immediately after

use.

3. Do not allow material to become dry and hard on any

of the garden shredder surfaces. This will directly af-

fect the shredding performance.

4. Make sure that the feeder chute and the ejection chute

are kept clean and clear of all waste material.

5. Make sure that all nuts, bolts and screws are tight and

secure.

6. Always have any damaged, or worn parts repaired, or

replaced by qualified personnel.

7. Do not use any cleaning or solvent materials as these

could cause irreparable damage to your machine.

Chemicals could destroy the artificial materials.

8. The strength of the fastening screws of the frame

should be checked from time to time.

9.

Oil the blade after every fourth or fifth use.

CAUTION

1.  Do not over tighten the plate adjustment screw and cut

excessive aluminium off of the plate, as this will reduce

the life of your shredder.

2.  Have your garden shredder inspected and maintained

by qualified service personnel. Do not attempt to repair

the machine unless you are qualified to do so.

9. Storage

In order to protect the shredder from corrosion during ex-

tended storage, apply some environmentally friendly oil

to the blade.

Make sure that the garden shredder has been thoroughly

cleaned before storing it in a clean, dry place out of the

reach of children.
