Service
Remove gland nuts (36B) & (37B), friction
rings (36C) & (37C), and grommets (36D)
& (37D) from conduit box (4), inspect
and replace if damaged (See Figure 4).
Reassemble by inserting one friction
ring, grommet, one more friction ring
and gland nut into conduit box. Torque
gland nuts to 15 ft./lbs. to prevent
leakage.
Wear Ring -
Apply retaining compound
to the bore of volute (35) and press wear
ring (31) into bore until seated.
Impeller & Volute -
Install impeller (30)
by appling a thin fi lm of oil to motor
shaft and slide impeller straight onto
shaft, keeping keyways lined up. Drive
key into keyway. Locate washer (32) and
lockwasher (10), apply thread lock primer
(such as Loctite® Primer T), let set per
manufactures’ directions.
Apply thread locking compound to
threads on cap screw (33), and thread
into shaft and torque to 35 ft./lbs.
Place gasket (34) on volute and install
impeller and motor assembly over studs
and onto volute (35). Apply thread
locking compound to threads of studs
(29) and thread nuts (16) onto studs and
torque to 24 ft./lbs. Check for binding
by rotating impeller. On the PF6NC (Not
for the PF6NC-H), the clearance between
the impeller and volute is approximately
0.012 inch.
