3.4 PRE-OPERATION CHECKLIST
Efficient and safe operation of the pressure washer requires that each operator reads and understands the
operating procedures and safety precautions outlined in this section. A pre-operation checklist is provided for
your convenience. It is important that it be followed for both personal safety and to maintain the unit in good
condition.
Follow this list before using and each time thereafter:
1. Be sure you understand all safety precautions.
2. Check that the pressure washer is sitting level on a firm base.
3. Check all hardware. Tighten if loose.
4. Check for leaks. Tighten loose fittings. Replace any damaged or worn components.
5. Check pump oil level. Add oil if level is below red dot in sight glass. Make sure pump plug is replaced
with breather plug.
6. Ensure that the water line will deliver more than the rated flow rate of the pump to eliminate pump
cavitation.
7. Ensure that the plastic screen is in the water inlet swivel ring with the tip pointing up.
3.5 BREAK-IN OR START-UP
When using the pressure washer for the first time or after a long storage period, follow this procedure to
ensure that the pump primes:
1. Clear the area of bystanders, especially small children.
2. Prepare unit and worksite (Refer to Section 3.6).
3. Hold the trigger for at least one minute until the spray leaves the nozzle in a steady stream.
4. Start the electric motor.
5. Always use this technique after the pressure washer is brought out of storage. The pump may lose its
prime during storage and this allows it to prime quickly.
