PRIMING THE WATER PUMP
1. Remove the priming plug from the top of the pump.
2. Fill the pump with clean, clear water up to the top of the discharge outlet.
3. Replace the priming plug.

NOTE:
Improper treatment of the water pump can damage the pump and shorten its life. Be sure the chamber is
filled with water before starting the engine.
CAUTION! Never run the pump without priming.
LOCATE THE STRAINER BASKET IN THE WATER SOURCE
Place the strainer basket into the water to be pumped. The basket must be fully immersed.

NOTE:

1. Never operate the pump without the strainer connected to the end of the suction hose.
2. Keep the strainer out of sand or silt. Place the strainer in a bucket or on stones.
3. Do not let the pump run dry or damage to seals may result.
STARTING THE WATER PUMP
NOTE:
Before use, remove the air filter cover and check its element to make sure it is clean and is in good
condition. Clean or replace as necessary.
NOTE:
Be sure the pump chamber is filled with water before starting the engine. Never run the pump
without priming.
1. Make sure the unit is on a flat, level surface and the pump chamber is primed.
2. Turn the fuel valve (1) to the “On” position. The fuel valve handle will be vertical (pointing toward the
ground). See figure 9.
