DRILLING MASONRY
For best results:
1. For masonry, such as brick, cement, cinder block, etc., use carbide-tipped bits.
2. Masonry can be brittle, so be careful not to apply too much pressure. This may crack
the material.
3. Apply enough pressure to keep the bit cutting and not spinning in the hole, as this will dull the
edges of the bit.
4. Bricks and similar soft materials will require less pressure, concrete will require much more.
5. Use masonry bits when drilling in soft masonry.
DRILLING WOOD
For best results:
1. For wood, use twist drill bits, spade bits, power auger bits, or hole saws. Pull the bits out of the
hole frequently to clear chips from the flutes as an overburdened bit may overheat.
2. Use a block of wood to back up work pieces that may splinter.
3. Use spade bits when drilling large diameter holes in wood.
4. To prevent wood from splitting, drill pilot holes into the wood before driving in the screws.
MAINTENANCE
1. Maintain the tool with care. A tool in good condition is efficient, easier to control and will
prevent unnecessary problems.
2. Keep the tool handles clean, dry and free from oil/grease at all times.
3. Follow instructions for lubricating and changing accessories.
4. Inspect the tool’s fittings, alignment and hoses periodically. Have damaged or worn
components repaired or replaced by an authorized technician.
5. Sharp tools are safer than dull tools. Applying excessive force while using a dull tool can lead to
slips and cause damage to your work piece or personal injury.
CAUTION! Only qualified service personnel should repair the tool.
