Replacing drills or bits
Switch the direction selector to its centre
position.
Holding the inner part of the chuck (1) with
one hand, turn the outer part of the chuck
clockwise to open the jaws.
Insert the drill required or a bit holder into
the chuck. Turn the outer part of the chuck
anticlockwise until the jaws hold the drill or
the bit holder tightly.
Check that the drill or the bit holder is
correctly fi tted in the centre of the chuck.
Use
Fit a suitable drill or bit for the task. Select
direction, torque, function, and gear.
Start the drill by pressing the on/off button
(7). The work light (6) turns on. The further
the trigger is depressed, the faster the
chuck will revolve. Stop the drill by releasing
the on/off button.
Allow the motor to reach full speed before
starting to drill.
Do not press the drill too hard. Select a low
speed for screwdriving, large drills or hard
materials and a higher speed for small drills
or soft materials.
The torque will cause the drill to switch
off at a specifi c load, to prevent it
overtightening the screw or damaging the
slot in the screw. Select a high torque for
drilling or for inserting screws into hard
surfaces where there is a lot of resistance.
Select a low torque for inserting screws into
soft or brittle surfaces.
Useful tips for drilling
When drilling in smooth surfaces, e.g. tiles,
stick a piece of strong tape on the drill site
before drilling to prevent the bit slipping.
Always punch the drill site when drilling
steel.
Place a piece of scrap wood under the item
when drilling thin sheet metal to avoid
deforming the sheet.
Lubricate the drill site with oil when drilling
metal. Use machine oil for steel and paraffi n
oil for aluminium.
To avoid splinters when drilling wood or
plastic, place a piece of scrap wood under
the item or drill from both sides.
Use a high drill speed when drilling plastic.
For large diameter holes, start with a small
diameter drill and then use the desired
diameter.
Cleaning and maintenance
Clean the drill with a slightly damp cloth or
compressed air after use and always keep
drill’s surfaces and vent holes clean.
Never use corrosive or abrasive cleaning
agents, as they may attack the plastic parts.
Keep the drill, charger and battery dry and
dust-free and at a temperature between 5
and 40 °C.
