OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

FOREWORD

The Porter-Cable Random Orbit Sander provides rapid stock removal with 80
to 100 grit abrasive and swirl-free finishing with 120 to 150 grit abrasive. The
Sander is equipped with a reversible pad that can accept 6" diameter, six
hole (for six dust extraction) abrasives, with either STIKIT™ adhesive backed
type attachment or hook & loop type attachment.

TO START AND STOP SANDER

1.

CAUTION:

Make certain the switch is in the “OFF” position, and the

power source is the same as that specified on the tool’s nameplate.

2.

Connect the tool to the power source.

CAUTION:

Keep hands and body parts away from rotating disc.

Contact with rotating disc can cause severe cuts and abrasions.

3.

The switch button, (A) Fig. 1, is labeled “ON” and “OFF”. Depress the

“ON” end of the switch button to start motor. Depress the “OFF” end of the
switch button to stop motor.

REVERSIBLE PAD

The pad is factory assembled with the hook & loop side exposed (for use
with hook & loop type abrasives). If you wish to use STIKIT™ type abrasives,
it will be necessary to reverse the pad as follows:

1.

CAUTION:

DISCONNECT THE SANDER FROM THE POWER SOURCE.

2.

Remove three screws (A) Fig. 2, and lift pad (B), from sander.

3.

Remove three spacers (C) Fig. 3, from the pad.

4.

Re-install the three spacers (C) in the hook & loop side of the pad.

5.

Orient the pad with its hook & loop side toward the sander. Align three

mounting holes with the corresponding holes in the pad mount.

6.

Re-install the three screws (A) Fig. 2. Tighten firmly (20 to 25 in. lbs. of

torque).

7.

Reverse the above procedure to return to hook & loop abrasives.
