Battery
e
Removing and installing the battery must only be
carried out by an authorized Porsche dealer.
Porsche recommends an authorized Porsche
dealer, as they have trained technicians and the
necessary parts and tools.
Depending on the model, country and equipment,
the vehicle features either a lead-acid battery with
AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) technology or a 12-volt
lithium battery (LiFePO4).
On vehicles with lithium batteries, the battery is
marked with a sticker.
e
Never remove, deface stickers or render them
illegible.

WARNING
Proposition 65 Warning
Battery posts, terminals and related accessories
contain lead and lead compounds, chemicals known
to the State of California to cause cancer and repro-
ductive harm. Batteries also contain other chemicals
known to the State of California to cause cancer.
Wash hands after handling.
WARNING
Electric shock, short cir-
cuit or fire
Touching conductive parts of the vehicle can give
you an electric shock. Working on the vehicle's
electrical system can cause a short circuit. The short
circuit can cause a fire.
e
Always disconnect the negative terminal on the
battery when working on the electrical system.
e
Tools or conductive items of jewelry (rings,
necklaces, watchstraps) must not be allowed to
come in contact with conductive parts of the
vehicle.
WARNING
Fire or explosion
Many automotive fluids are highly flammable, e.g.
fuel, engine or transmission oil. Fuel vapors can
combust. A highly explosive electrolytic gas mixture
can form when charging lead-acid batteries.
e
Always disconnect the negative terminal on the
battery when working on the electrical system.
e
To avoid static charges building, do not wipe
down the battery with a dry cloth.
e
Before touching the battery, first touch the ve-
hicle itself to allow any static charge to dissipate.
e
Never smoke or use naked flames near the bat-
tery. Also beware of sparks, e.g. as a result of
cable contact.
e
Only work on the vehicle outdoors or in well-
ventilated spaces.
CAUTION
Corrosive electrolyte
Lead-acid batteries contain highly caustic battery
acid that can cause damage to the skin and clothing
in the event of contact.
e
Wear safety gloves and eye protection.
e
If battery acid gets into your eyes or on your skin:
Rinse with cold water for several minutes.
NOTICE
Risk of short circuiting, fire and damage to the al-
ternator and electronic control units and
components.
e
The battery should only be removed and installed
at an authorized Porsche dealer. Porsche recom-
mends an authorized Porsche dealer, as they
have trained technicians and the necessary parts
and tools.
e
Always detach the negative terminal on the bat-
tery when working on the electrical system.
Fig. 25: Lead-acid battery
The lead-acid battery is located under the plastic
cover in the luggage compartment. For information
on removing the plastic cover:

Please see chapter "Luggage Compartment" on
page 162.
e
When emergency starting, never connect the
black negative cable directly to the battery. Al-
ways connect the black negative cable to the
-
ground point.
