Unlike Search mode thresholds, the threshold values in Measurement
mode are preset by the user and do not depend on the background
radiation.
NOTE
: The second dose rate threshold (DANGER) will go off in any mode,
including Settings, Search, etc., indicating that the radiation level exceeds the
upper value set by the user. To deactivate the alarm temporarily (default
setting is 1 min.), press any button.
Similarly, the PM1704A-GN and PM1704A-GNM models continue to
search for neutrons in Measurement mode, as described above. Thus any
neutron alarms will go off even in Measurement mode. To deactivate the
alarm temporarily (default setting is 1 min.), press any button.
2.4.1. Setting new thresholds
The manufacturer default settings are 5
µ
Sv/h (500
µ
R/h) for the
WARNING threshold (THRESHOLD 1) and 100
µ
Sv/h (10 mR/h) for the
DANGER threshold (THRESHOLD 2). To set new threshold values press
and hold the SELECT button until the Measurement mode menu appears
on the display, then press the MODE/SET button to select “THRESHOLD
1” or “THRESHOLD 2” to change the corresponding threshold value:
In this mode, pressing the SELECT button will toggle between changing
the threshold measurement units (μR/h, mR/h or R/h), moving the
decimal point, and increasing/decreasing the corresponding digit of the
threshold value. To change a particular unit or value press the MODE/SET
button when the corresponding position is highlighted or selected by an
arrow. In order to increase the current value, use the SELECT button to
set the up-arrow, then use the MODE/SET button to select the desired
number. To decrease the current value, use the SELECT button to set the
down-arrow then use the MODE/SET button to set the desired number.
In order to save the new threshold value, press the SELECT button until
any selection or arrows disappear and then press the MODE/SET button.
The instrument will save the new settings and automatically return to
Measurement mode.
