Step 4

Turn the camera on

a

Press the yellow camera on/off button (

on the top of the camera.

Wait for the green power/status indicator
light (

) on the back of the camera to stop

blinking before you take a photo.

Note:

To conserve battery life, the color LCD
turns off after 90 seconds and goes into
“sleep mode.” While the camera is in
sleep mode, the green power/status
indicator light (

b

) stays on. (Be sure to turn off the color LCD when it is

not needed.) Pressing any button or rotating the mode dial immediately
returns the camera to a powered-up state. The camera shuts off
completely after three minutes of inactivity, unless you are using an AC
adapter (page 15).
