MAINTENANCE
PTO Gear Box (If Applicable)
Adding PTO Gear Box Fluid
The PTO gear box should not require adding fluid. If the fluid
level drops, it would indicate a leak. See your dealer for
repairs.
Removing And Replacing PTO Gear Box Fluid
Replace the PTO gear fluid at the correct service interval as
outlined in the Periodic Maintenance Chart beginning on page
78.
1. Stop the machine on a flat level surface. Put the gear selec-
tor in Park, stop the engine and exit the vehicle. See page
41.
2. Install a container under
the drain plug (Item 1).
3. Remove the drain plug
(Item 1). Dispose of the
used fluid in an environ-
mentally safe manner.
4. Reinstall the drain plug
(Item 1) and tighten to
11 ft-lb (15 Nm) torque.
5. The PTO gear box
requires special syn-
thetic fluid. Use only recommended fluid in the PTO gear
case. See page 110 for the correct fluid specifications.
6. Thoroughly clean the
area around the breather
tube fitting (Item 2) and
remove the fitting.
7. Install a piece of clear
tubing (Item 4) on the
end of the gear case fluid
bottle (Item 5). Add the
proper amount of fluid to
the gear case.
See Page
41 for the correct fluid
specifications.
8. Reinstall the fitting
(Item 2) and make sure
the end of the breather
tube (Item 3) is posi-
tioned in the cross member that is behind the operators
seat.
WARNING!
Avoid Injury Or Death
Always clean up spilled fuel or oil. Keep heat, flames, sparks or
lighted tobacco away from fuel and oil. Failure to use care around
