4. Troubleshooting
4.1 Resolving problems yourself
Problems during installation
•
Press the eject button to check whether or not the device is getting any power. If this is not the case, then check
that the power connector is correctly connected.
•
When booting the system check whether the device is identified by the system. If this is not the case, then check
whether the E-IDE connector is correctly connected and whether the MASTER/SLAVE setting is correct. Also
check whether the device is connected to the end of the E-IDE cable.
•
Make sure that the most recent
bus master drivers
for your IDE controller have been installed. These are
normally supplied together with your motherboard or your PC. For further details consult your motherboard or
PC manual.
•
Check whether DMA (
Direct Memory Access
) has been activated.
Problems when reading a disc
•
