Troubleshooting: Writing CD-R and CD-RW Discs
Symptom Possible
Causes
Solutions
PlexCombo and other
IDE CD-ROM drive are
connected on the same
cable.
If necessary, enable BURN-Proof
in the recording software.
Use the image writing method
(safe mode) or record at a lower
speed.
Put the IDE CD-ROM drive on the
primary bus and PlexCombo as
the Master (and the only device)
on the secondary bus.
PlexCombo and hard
disk are connected on
the same cable.
If necessary, enable BURN-Proof
in the recording software.
Remove the PlexCombo from the
cable, set its jumper to Master,
and re-connect it to the secondary
IDE port. (Leave the hard disk
connected to the primary IDE
port.)
CD-ROM drive used as
a source cannot read
data fast enough to
record at higher
speeds, such as 20X
and 16X.
If necessary, enable BURN-Proof
in the recording software.
If your software does not support
BURN-Proof, copy the data to the
computer’s hard disk, then record
from the hard disk to the
PlexCombo.
Cannot write at
10X (CD-RW).
CD-RW media is not
high speed CD-RW.
Use high-speed CD-RW media.
These discs are stamped with a
“High Speed CD-RW” logo.
