Infrared (IR) Range Sensor
The infrared range sensor outputs an infrared signal pulse of known frequency and detects the reflection of the signal off
an object. The elapsed time from the signal output to detecting the reflected signal can be used to distance from the signal
source to the object. The elapsed time can also be used to distinguish differences among materials or colors based on IR
reflectivity.
The range finder pinout includes power, ground, and an analog signal, which supplies a voltage proportional to the
measured distance. Signal conditioning can be done in LabVIEW code to convert the analog signal to units of length.
