TROUBLESHOOTING
The 1810 has been designed to give many hours of trouble free
service, but in the event of a paper misfeed or stall, the motor may
stop and be unable to clear the stoppage. In these instances,
perform the following instructions to remove the paper.
1.
Turn the 1810 off and unplug the power cord.
2.
Remove the paper cassette.
3.
Turn the Manual release knob, located on the rear of the ma-
chine, in the direction of least resistance using your free hand to
assist in paper removal.
If you are unable to remove the jam, remove the Catcher tray
panel and check to see if the upper buckle chute contains the
jammed paper. If it does, place a slight downward pressure on
the paper through the access opening while turning the Manual
release knob to advance the paper enough to allow clearing. If
the upper buckle chute does not contain the jammed paper,
rotate the Fold Selection knob to position 6 or 7 while turning
the Manual release knob to advance the paper enough to allow
clearing.
4.
Reconnect the power cord and turn on the power switch to
assure the motor runs free.
5.
Insert a single sheet of paper into the manual feed opening and
check for proper folding.
6.
Turn the power switch off and insert the cassette.
7.
Before turning the machine back on, make sure the paper
you’re folding is flat, without curls or turned up edges.
8.
If you are unable to remove the jam, or if it repeatedly occurs,
call your Pitney Bowes service department for assistance.
If multiple sheet folds separate or hesitate during the folding pro-
cess, clean the rollers to remove excess buildup (see Maintenance
section).
