Explanation about the operation of VDET
VDET monitors the occurrence of abnormity in each power of DVDM with VDET signals.
VDET is at the Mid level (3.3V) under the normal condition. Under the following conditions, it is at the L or H level and the
abnormity is notified to the microcomputer.

(2) For the control specification of the 3.3 DETECT(VDET) terminal in the system microcomputer (PDC125A), see the "7.1.9
System Computer PROTECT Specification".
(See the "
PROTECT Operation Map", too.)
Explanation about the operation of PROTECT
If XPROTECT (22pin of IC5501) has an abnormity as mentioned
below and the prescribed abnormity or failure detection voltage,
the microcomputer detects it, and immediately POWER is turned
OFF and TIMER LED starts flashing.
POWER ON will be disabled for one minute after POWER OFF
due to detection of failure.
However, this one-minute standby can be canceled by
entering the Service Test Mode.
The circuit of this XPROTECT detects the following states:
1
Detection of a short of PRE5.....If the voltage of PRE5 is
reduced (below 3.2V), the XPROTECT port will be almost 0.
2
Detection of a short of PRE12.....If the voltage of PRE12 is
reduced (below 3.2V), the XPROTECT port will be almost 0.
3
FAN+B (This is effective for the detection of V+B and PRE12, too.)
If the voltage of FAN+B is reduced (below 3.2V), the XPROTECT
port will be almost 0.
4
Short of FAN.....If a failure occurs in FAN, causing a short-circuit
inside, Q3654 will be tuned ON and the XPROTECT will
become almost 0.
5
FAN Open.....If there is a failure in FAN or FAN doesn't rotate
due to some stress, Q3655 will be turned OFF and XPROTECT
will become almost 0.
6
Detection of a failure in VA-12.....If -12V exceeds -8V, Q92 will
be turned ON, and XPROTECT will be reduced almost to 0.
*
For the control specification of the XPROTECT terminal of the
System microcomputer (PDC125A), see the "7.1.9 System
Computer PROTECT Specification".
7
Detection of a failure in +9V for TUNER.....If VX+9V (about
9.0V) becomes 1V or less, a failure is detected.
ON/OFF of each transistor
indicates the operating state
in case of regarding the tran-
sistor as a switching element.
