Speaker Distance
Fo r good sound de p th and se p a r ation f r om you r system,
you need to s p ecify the distance of you r s p eake r s f r om
the listening p osition. The r eceive r can then add the
pr o p e r delay needed fo r effective su rr ound sound.
1 Select ‘Speaker Distance’ from the Manual SP
Setup menu.
2 Adjust the distance of each speaker using
/

You can adjust the distance of each s p eake r in 0.01 m
inc r ements.
3 When you’re finished, press RETURN.
You will r etu r n to the Manual SP Setup menu.
Tip
• Fo r best su rr ound sound, make su r e the su rr ound
back s p eake r s a r e the same distance f r om the
listening p osition.
X-Curve
Most soundt r acks mixed fo r cinema sound too b r ight
when p layed back in la r ge r ooms. The X-Cu r ve setting
acts as a kind of r e-equalization fo r home theate r
listening, and r esto r es pr o p e r tonal balance of movie
soundt r acks.

1 Select ‘X-Curve’ from the Manual SP Setup menu.
2 Choose the X-Curve setting you want.
Use

to adjust the setting. The X-Cu r ve is ex pr essed
as a downwa r ds slo p e in decibels p e r octave, sta r ting at
2 kHz. The sound becomes less b r ight as the slo p e
inc r eases (to a maximum of –3.0dB/oct ). Use the
following guidelines to set the X-Cu r ve acco r ding to you r
r oom size:
• If you select OFF , the f r equency cu r ve will be flat and
the X-Cu r ve has no effect.
3 When you’re finished, press RETURN.
THX Audio Setting
When the THX Loudness Plus function is used, sound
can be
p layed with the full su rr ound effect even when the
volume is low.
Fo r the most effective r esults when using the THX Select2
Cinema, THX Select2 Music Mode and THX Select2
Games Mode listening modes (see
Using the Home THX
modes on p age 51) with the Advanced S p eake r A rr ay
(ASA) system (see
About THX
on p age 102), it is r equi r ed
that you make the setting. See Placing the speakers on
p age 17 fo r mo r e on THX s p eake r p lacement.

With some s p eake r setu p s, de p ending on the p osition of
the subwoofe r and the walls in you r listening a r ea, you
may ex p e r ience ove r ly r esonant f r equencies in the bass.
If you have this pr oblem use the THX Select2 subwoofe r
setu p to switch on BGC (bounda r y gain com p ensation)
(see About THX on p age 102 fo r mo r e on this).
