Images in a certain input format or from a certain
output terminal are poor.
Errors in NTSC record
output only.
Errors in main HDTV and
480P system output only.

Check the ATV-2 MMC
(IC5444) and NTSC encoder
(IC5447).
Check the ATV-2 FPGA
(IC5434), DAC (IC5439) and
FL5407.
Check the ATV-2 SVP
(IC5411 or IC5420), FPGA
(IC5466) and SDRAM
(IC5404 thru IC5407).
* Also take the following steps.
Check to see if the monitor
cable is properly connected.
Check the record output cable
that runs from the ATV-2 to
the ATV-1 (ATV-1 connector
P5311).
Check the video terminals on
the back. Check to see if the output mode
is properly set.
Check to see if the monitor
cable is properly connected.
Check the video terminals on
the back.
Make sure the audio cable is
properly connected.
Make sure the audio terminals
are not defective.
Unusual audio output (video output available)
No analog audio output. No digital audio output.

Note: When a broadcast signal is any other than 5.1ch (2ch, for
example), the 5.1ch analog output is given only for the
channel in question, but not for all the other channels.
Check IC5303
(photo-output) and
IC5310 (coaxial).
Check the audio
decoder (IC5301).
Note: For playing back the digital audio on the
Dolby AC-3, the audio amplifier of the Dolby
AC-3 decoder must be externally connected
and the AC-3 mode must be set.
