Optional system settings
These settings are accessed by using the
System Setup menu while in standby.

1 Switch the system into standby.
2 Press SYSTEM SETUP .
3 Use
/
(cursor left/right) to choose the
setting you want to adjust then press ENTER .
The current setting is shown for each option as
you cycle through the display. See below for a
full list and description of each.
4 Use
/
(cursor up/down) to adjust the
setting.
5 Repeat steps 2 and 3 to make other
settings then press ENTER to confirm.
System Setup menu options in standby
Below are all the available settings in the setup
menu. The first setting in each is the default.
Volume mode setting
Specifies the sensitivity of the volume control:
• Normal – 50 steps in the volume range
•
Fine
– 80 steps in the volume range

VOLUME [ F ]
shows in the display)
Hour format setting
Specifies how the clock is displayed:
• 12-Hour – Display shows 12-hour format
•
24-Hour
– Display shows 24-hour format
TV system setting
Not applicable to the Taiwan model
The default setting of this system is AUTO , and
unless you notice that the picture is distorted
when playing some discs, you should leave it
set to
AUTO . If you find picture distortion with
some discs, set the TV system to match your
country or region’s system. However, this may
restrict the kinds of disc you can watch. See
the table for the kinds of discs compatible with
each setting ( AUTO , PAL and NTSC ).

1 Excluding Dimming the display on the next page, which is set when the system is switched on.
2 Most models of the newly developed countdown PAL TV system detect 50 Hz (PAL)/60 Hz (NTSC) and automatically switch
vertical amplitude, resulting in a display without vertical shrinkage. However, in some cases, the image may appear without col-
or. If your PAL TV does not have a V-Hold control, you may not be able to watch NTSC discs because of picture roll. If the TV has
a V-Hold control, adjust it until the picture stops rolling. On some TVs, the picture may shrink vertically, leaving black bands at
the top and bottom of the screen.
