Signal Combining Methods
The
PHC-12G
twelve-channel passive headend combiner consists of two
rows of directional couplers combined by a hybrid splitter. The directional
coupler combining provides high isolation (40 dB) between the inputs.
Normally, the odd channels are combined on one row while even channels
are combined on the other row of directional couplers. The combiner loss
is 18dB per channel. The combiner output is then fed into a
CA-30RK1000
distribution amp.
The
CHC-16U/860
sixteen-channel active headend combiner provides
both signal combining and post amplification of the headend signals. Up
to 16 channels may be combined using the
CHC-16U/860
. The combiner
gain is adjustable 10 to 15 dB per channel.
The final method of combining signals uses three hybrid splitters per head-
end rack. The odd channels are combined in one splitter, the even-chan-
nels in another splitter and the two splitters are combined to a single out-
put with a third splitter. Each rack is then combined with a final splitter prior
to the
CA-30RK1000
post amplifier.
Installation
It is recommended that assistance be available to safely install equipment in
equipment racks.
1
.
Install chassis in equipment rack (equipment rack sold separately) by
supporting the bottom and rear of MPC12 at the desired elevation in
rack.
2.
Line up the mounting holes of chassis with the tapped equipment
rack holes.
3.
Insert the provided screws through the mounting holes at the
extreme left and right of faceplate and thread into the tapped equip-
ment rack holes.
4.
Fasten the bottom screws first, then fasten top screws. (tighten securely).
5.
Insert equipment modules into chassis by aligning the top and bot-
tom edge of the module with the slide guide channels.
6.
Push each module firmly into chassis until module is firmly seated.
7.
Connect modules as described in the manual associated with module.
8.
Starting with the module furthest from power supply, connect all mod-
ule power connections.
9.
Connect power cord to outlet supplying line power to the power supply.
