Appendix B - The configuration EEPROM ADC Module and its
functions
The configuration EEPROM of the ADC module contains two 1kB sized look-up tables
(LUT). With these LUT tables it is possible to transform 10bit ADC values into 8bit values
for the camera interface. This transformation is managed by directly addressing one 1kB
LUT, whose 8bit interface is directly linked with the camera interface. When the camera
is powered up, the internal RAM-LUT is loaded with the values of LUT0. The values of the
LUT1 can be copied in the RAM-LUT by setting the selection bits for the LUT1 and
subsequently reloading.
The LUT tables are preprogrammed when the camera is delivered. LUT0 contains a LUT
for the digital amplification by a factor of 2. Grey values higher than 511 will be displayed
as a gray values of 511 (Clamping). LUT1 contains a LUT with a digital amplification of 4
and a gray scale clamping of 255. Fig. 13 shows the clamping of the initial values by the
preprogrammed LUT. The LUT can be changed by the user through the RS232 interface.
To change the default settings, user values can be stored in the EEPROM.
The EEPROM is divided into two areas as shown in
Table 30
. The address values in the
EEPROM correspond to the addresses of the RAM-LUT in the ADC module. With LUT 1 the
EEPROM address 400H corresponds to the LUT address 000H and so on.
