80V Dimmer Replacement - VL500 80V Only

#2 Phillips Screwdriver

WARNING:  

Remove power from luminaire before performing maintenance.

To remove and replace 80V dimmer:

Step

1. Disconnect luminaire AC input cable from power source.

Step

2. Remove yoke cover on dimmer side by removing four 6-32x3/8" LG PTB screws.

Step

3. As shown in 

Figure 34

, at dimmer, loosen, but do not remove, four 6-32x3/8" PPZ 

screws.

Step

4. Carefully remove 80V dimmer. Note that there will be wires connected to dimmer 

on the back side.

CAUTION:  

All AC wiring is same color. It is a good idea to mark the connector attached to 

both the AC Line Input and Load (Output) terminals on the IGBT dimmer with a black marker 
before removing so the phasing can be maintained.

Step

5. At dimmer, carefully note (and label before removing) and disconnect following 

wiring:

a.

4-position (Dimmer Communication from MCB)

b. Four Faston (Quick Connects - AC Input / lamp Power Output)

c.

Ground Wires

Step

6. Remove four 6-32x3/8" PPZ screws from Step 3. Install these screws in replacement 

80V dimmer.

WARNING:  

Be careful with ferrite cores on lamp wires. Make sure they do not come in 

contact with dimmer; they may damage components on dimmer.
