HeartStart Home Owner’s Manual

Edition 11

IMPORTANT NOTE

Time is critical in treating sudden cardiac arrest!
Survival rates are directly related to how soon
victims are defibrillated. For every minute of
delay, the chance of survival drops by about
10%. However, it is important to understand
that defibrillation cannot always assure survival.
In some cases, the cause of the cardiac arrest
simply cannot be survived no matter how
quickly the victim is treated.
