Cleaning, care and storage
If you care for your Hanging Fire Bowl correctly, it will last for generations. To achieve that you should
observe some important basic rules:
• Always heat up the bowl and the fat slowly so that the material has enough time to expand. Initially,
you will need some more fat for roasting on your Petromax Hanging Fire Bowl. The more you use it
and the darker it becomes, the lesser fat is needed as a patina developed.
• After use leave the Hanging Fire Bowl to cool down completely.
• Never clean in a dishwasher or with dishwashing agent! This can damage or even destroy the patina.
It is sufficient to wipe the Fire Bowl after use with some paper towel or rinse with hot water and
clean with a customary dishwashing brush or a sponge. We recommend the Petromax Chain Mail
Cleaner to gently remove roasting residues without damaging the patina.
• Dry the Hanging Fire Bowl well and grease thinly to seal the surface. Use the food safe Petromax
Care Conditioner for Cast and Wrought Iron or a neutral oil or vegetable fat. Avoid using olive oil as
it cannot be heated very strongly for roasting.
• Store your Hanging Fire Bowl at a dry place, for instance inside the Transport Bag for the Petromax
Griddle and Fire Bowl fs56. Never stow when wet and untreated.
Warranty
Under proper use, a warranty period of two years will apply to your Petromax Hanging Fire Bowl from
the date of purchase. This does not cover wear parts. If you cannot use the Petromax Hanging Fire Bowl
properly due to a defect in material or manufacturing, you are entitled to a warranty repair. Contact
your retailer for that purpose.
