Torque – Handle Load Formulas
The following formula is used to determine the handle force required to produce a known
torque:
F = T / (0.0241*D + 4.375)
Where F is the handle force in pounds, T is the desired torque in foot-pounds and, D is the
diameter in inches. To find the torque produced from an observed handle force, use the
following formula:
T = F * (0.0241*D + 4.375)
Where F is the handle force in pounds, T is the produced torque in foot-pounds and, D is the
diameter in inches.
