Replacing the Frontier FT-IR/FT-FIR Sample
Compartment Windows
NOTE: You can also change the sample compartment windows in the Frontier FT-IR/FT-NIR

The sample compartment windows in the Frontier FT-IR/FT-FIR spectrometer need to be
changed when moving between the MIR and FIR ranges.
KBr windows are used in the MIR range. In the FIR range, the PE window is installed in the
left side of the sample compartment and the PE/D window is installed in the right side of the
sample compartment.
1. Open the sample compartment cover.
2. Using the 3 mm screwdriver (part number L9003317) supplied with the Quick Change
Window Kit (part number L1250432), slacken the three screws securing the current
window to the side of the sample compartment.
3. Remove the current window with its seal in place.
Store the window in the desiccated spare window compartment (Figure 9).
CAUTION
Be careful not to get moisture on the optical surface of the window. Do
not touch or breathe on the optical surface of the window.
4. Ensure the seal is fitted to the replacement window and is correctly seated (Figure 24).
