TH170 HEAT PUMP THERMOSTAT

READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY BE-

FORE ATTEMPTING TO INSTALL, OPERATE OR

SERVICE THIS THERMOSTAT.

Failure to observe safety information and comply

with instructions could result in PERSONAL INJURY,

DEATH AND/OR PROPERTY DAMAGE.

To avoid electrical shock or damage to equipment,

disconnect power before installing or servicing and

use only wiring with insulation rated for full thermo-

stat operating voltage.

Before installing this control, the Voltage Selection

Switch must be placed in the correct position.  See

instructions.

To avoid potential fire and/or explosion do not use in

potentially flammable or explosive atmospheres.

Retain these instructions for future reference.  This

product, when installed, will be part of an engi-

neered system whose specifications and perfor

-

mance characteristics are not designed or controlled

by PECO.  You must review your application and

national and local codes to assure that your installa-

tion will be functional and safe.

WARNING

Use copper wire only, insulate or wire nut all unused

leads.

Care should be used to avoid electrostatic discharge

to the T170 thermostat.

This unit has configuration jumpers.  You may need

to reconfigure this thermostat for your application.

CAUTION

Preinstallation Considerations

Thermostat Location – The thermostat should be used indoors only.  It

should be mounted on an inner wall 48” from the floor, in a location with

freely circulating air, and where it will be responsive to changes in room

temperature.  Avoid mounting near heat generating appliances (i.e. TV,

heater, refrigerator), or in direct sunlight.

Humidifiers – The humidify output connects directly to 24VAC oper

-

ated humidifiers.  No other connection or interlock is required.  Several

installer-selectable operating modes are available as described in the

Humidity Control Operation Section.

Dehumidifiers – The dehumidify output connects to the dehumidify input

on variable–speed furnaces and fan coils.  Additional dehumidification is

done by controlling the compressor.  Several installer-selectable operat

-

ing modes are available as described in the Humidity Control Operation

Section.

Outdoor Temperature Sensor – The use of an outdoor temperature in

conjunction with the TH170 will improve the performance and increase

the number of humidity control modes available to the installer.  Run two

wires from the TH170 to an outdoor location. The outdoor sensor can be

mounted to the outdoor unit and existing control wires may be used for

its connection.
