About Uplink port
An uplink port is used to connect to an additional hub, and its wires are
cross-linked inside the hub. The following table shows valid port/ cable
type combinations. Please refer to this table if you plan to cascade an
additional hub in any different manner.
Note:
●
Should you experience any problem in establishing a data link on any of
the ports, please refer to Appendix A and B for troubleshooting.
●
Be sure to use Category 5 UTP cables for 100BASE-TX connection.
Similarly, use Category 3 (or greater) cables for 10BASE-T connection.
The maximum cable length is 100 meters. If the Uplink port is in use,
Port 1 may NOT be used.
2. Connect one end of the cable to the uplink port on the FX-05SC.
3. Connect the other end of the cable to any of the 100BASE-TX/ 10BASE-
T RJ-45 ports on the other device. The Link/Act LED illuminates if a
valid 10BASE-T link is established. Similarly, the 100M LED is turned
on if a 100BASE-TX device is attached to the device.
Note:
When using the Uplink port, do not use Port 1. Also, be sure to verify the
port type of all the routers/ switches before attaching any cable.
4. If you wish to cascade two or more hubs to the FX-05SC, be sure to
connect the Uplink ports of the other hubs to Port 1-5 of the FX-05SC. If
there is no Uplink port on the other hubs, use a crossover cable to attach
the hubs.
