Introduction
Thank you for purchasing a heating mantle from PCE Instruments. The PCE-HM 1000 / 5000 heating
mantles are used to heat or temper samples or chemicals in all types of laboratories. The case is made of
high-quality materials, with an antistatic painting. Inside the heating mantle, there is a mesh capable of
bearing a round-bottom flask with a volume of up to 1000 / 5000 ml. The rotary switch at the lower edge
allows the user to set the temperature to an individual value between 0 and 450 °C.

Safety notes
Please read this manual carefully and completely before you use the device for the first time. The device
may only be used by qualified personnel and repaired by PCE Instruments personnel. There is no
warranty of damages or injuries caused by non-observance of the manual.
- The device may only be used in the approved temperature range.

The case should only be opened by qualified personnel of PCE Instruments.
- The instrument should never be placed with the user interface facing an object (e. g. keyboard side on a
table).
- You should not make any technical changes to the device.
- The appliance should only be cleaned with a damp cloth / use only pH-neutral cleaner.
- Only connect the device to grounded sources of power supply to protect persons and machinery.
- Be extremely cautious when dealing with inflammable, explosive or highly corrosive liquids. Please
make sure the temperature set is not too high.
- Ensure that the device stands on a solid and even surface.
- To avoid fire, make sure that the heating mantle and the outer surface of the round-bottom flask are dry.
- Please do not overfill the round bottom flask to avoid damage to the heating mantle caused by liquid
boiling over.
- Do not touch the area around the heating port during operation.
- The device must not be used in explosive atmospheres.
- Store the device in a dry and clean place without any chemical influences. Avoid moisture and physical
strain when transporting and storing the instrument.
